About these terms
These terms apply to tuition and educational support provided by Horsfall Education, operated by Juliet Horsfall. Where a learner is under 18, the agreement is normally made with their parent or legal guardian.
Booking tuition
Tuition begins once the proposed arrangements, fees and lesson schedule have been agreed in writing. Parents should provide accurate, relevant information about the learner’s educational needs before tuition begins.
Fees and payment
Lesson fees and payment arrangements will be confirmed in advance. Invoices must be paid by the date shown. Tuition may be paused where payment remains outstanding. Charges for assessments, resources or travel will be agreed before they are incurred.
Lessons
Lessons may take place online or in person by prior arrangement. Learners should attend punctually and bring any agreed materials. For online tuition, families are responsible for providing a suitable device, reliable internet connection and appropriate working space.
Educational support
Tuition is tailored to the learner and delivered with reasonable care and professional skill. Particular examination grades, school offers or academic outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Progress also depends on attendance, effort, independent study and the learner’s individual circumstances.
Communication and confidentiality
Communication will take place through agreed professional channels. Appropriate boundaries will be maintained when communicating with learners under 18. Personal information will be treated confidentially in accordance with the Privacy Notice. Confidentiality may be broken where there is a safeguarding concern, a risk of serious harm or a legal obligation to disclose information.
Cancellation rights
If a tuition agreement is made at a distance, such as online or by telephone, the client may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days. If tuition is requested to begin during that period, the client may be required to pay for lessons already provided. The separate Tutoring and Cancellation Policy applies to individual booked lessons.
Materials
Materials created or supplied by Horsfall Education are for the learner’s personal educational use. They must not be copied, published, sold or distributed without permission.
Ending tuition
Either party may end an ongoing arrangement by giving reasonable written notice. Horsfall Education may end tuition immediately in cases of persistent non-payment, inappropriate behaviour, a serious breakdown in the working relationship or a safety concern.
Complaints
Please raise concerns directly with Juliet so they can be considered promptly and fairly. A written response will be provided where appropriate.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
